Too Many Viral Videos

With women security going out of the window nowadays - internet is full of people talking about different court cases. Many viral videos have emerged too- stand up comedy, poetry, rap, simple question and answer session. What I fail to understand are these viral video makers seriously interested in the issue or are they just looking for their "15 minutes" of fame. Because some of the videos (I repeat "some") seem so forced and time consuming- after watching I was like 'We already knew that.' Believe me I being a woman am totally in for "fighting our rights" and "demanding security" but why "rap" about it? Who is going to watch it?  [some of the videos are 30 mins long] Instead it would be better if we took simple steps while travelling - helping our female co-passengers in buses or trains if they feel vulnerable. Looking out if we see any strange behavior of male or female with a child. On a lighter note, I would ...

PK is not "Oh My God"

Decided to write this post because I am tired of hearing the line "PK was just like Oh My God" which is actually analogous to saying "Every love story is like DDLJ" As its not. I am briefly going to describe the lessons in PK but before  that the major difference between "OH My God" and "PK"- Moral of the story in "Oh My God" - Believe in the creator and worship him but not the created who sell in his name. Moral of the story of PK - All human beings are equal. Yes you heard it right; that is the moral of PK and just to prove this point the director had to introduce religion as well which led to the comparisons. This post is not to glorify the movie or to hurt religious sentiments. It is simply my perception since I found the movie to be "Well made". Lesson 1: How dressing sense makes inequality prevail. PK wore a “lehenga” in the beginning as he didn't know it was a lady's dress- and he wore all...

Haider - Beautifully Made

Did anyone else understand the Biggest Metaphor of the Movie? TABU - The beautiful and Deadly KASHMIR which is burning itself and is confused who to side on with as it loves everyone equally. HILAAL Meer - The country which neglected and devalued her and now considers her treacherous and responsible for all wrong befalling it. Legally deserving her but morally not. KHURRAM - the opportunist which gained control over her and value her more than life but has sacrificed ethics in order to achieve her. Maybe Legally Deserving her but morally not. HAIDER - Her son who wants her badly enough to destroy everything around him as well as inside him. His Lust knows no bounds. Not deserving her Legally or Morally. Kudos Vishaal Bhardwaj - Your art is Exquisite!

Email to Prove Rom-Com are Different!

When I was a teenager, I read a book by Sidney sheldon and told my cousin brother- “Sidney sheldon is an awful writer” My brother didn’t argue with me he said- Which book did you read? when I told him the name, –Bloodline he said its one of the worst and told me to read “Master of the game” 20 years later, Sidney Sheldon is my favorite author and I am grateful to my bro for letting me know my choice of book was not correct to judge the writer. I would have missed reading the some of the best thriller+mystery novels  had I not pushed my horizons.   So I asked all my friends on FB and here is the list of all the best Rom-Coms of all time  and 3 imp points- 1)Most are hits and  allare classics- widely liked by public 2) I didn’t include any Meg ryan’s movies though hers are the best (You’ve got mail, When Harry Met Sally) 3) None of these have the cliched ending (In some the hero heroine do Not end up together) 4) Main in Manhattan ...

A Marriage Ahead of its Times

My little sister is getting married. Yayyyyyyyy. A joyous occassion for me .. but not for all. I keep remembering what my mom told me about her wedding- how people hated them; didn't want to meet her for years when she  being a Shia married a Sunni. But by the time we were in our tweens; almost both sides of the family had accepted my parent's marriage. Recently when my Shia  maternal cousin brother married  my Sunni paternal cousin sister- there was hardy any displeasure and it all went as though anything was hardly out of place. So now I feel my parents were ahead of the time- hence same for my sister. In this world, where its so hard to find a soul- mate; isn't it harder  to find someone of your own religion, matching castes or even social backgrounds? What's the big deal if you marry someone out side the specifications. Why are others so intimidated by your decision? If these same people have to make this decision for their children, they ...
