A Beautiful New Year
Every new year brings hope... The hope of starting all over again. The hope of rectifying past mistakes and the hope of not making new ones. Our new year eves were always celebrated with parents and siblings; watching TV; counting 10..9..8 as the clock struck midnight, hugging everyone while shouting Happy new year and finally hanging a new year calender just after midnight, something me and my sister had made kind of a custom. As we grew up, our new years continued to be celebrated this way till we left our home. I wonder if my children would be ever satisfied with celebrating such a simple new year, one that does not comprise of new year parties, fireworks or socialising with a so called "Elite" society. The best thing of living a simple life is the contentment experienced. Living 2 years without a television just because I wanted to buy it when I bought my own house was quite an experience.
